SoCal Road Trip Preview

Seeing as how I jumped right back into four 10 hour days of work upon return from an awesome SoCal road trip, a detailed account will have to wait until a bit later. In the meantime, here's a taste:

Eye Candy.

Everyone knows I love to covet artsy boards. My favorite venue for doing this is craigslist. Sometimes there are deals, and sometimes not. This week provided some juicy viewing...all shaped by Nick Palandrini. Beauties huh?

Checked the surf this morning-Flat. Everywhere. Well, maybe not flat. Six inches-a foot at best. Not worth the effort. Spent the morning driving around with K. We check them all...Montara, LM, Rockaway, OB. All the same lake-like qualities. I guess I never realized that I'm a surfer who counts on swell. I'm ok with small waves, but man, this is killing me.
Getting stoked for the road trip. Pismo-Rincon-Malibu-Encinitas-Cardiff-Windansea-PB here we come. I'm sure we'll just end up surfing where it's good. I hope it's good. Somewhere.

Watched Thread this past weekend. Such a great movie. Even the bf was dreaming of glassy peelers after seeing it. What more could I ask for...stories about art n surf? Loved the segment about the Surf Book...it was one of the best ever Xmas gifts I've received.

Tonight's the showing of Chasing the Lotus. I could use the eye candy.

Rumors of groundswell this weekend. Frothing at the thought of it. Looks like I'm off to the gym now. Gotta get some exercise in somehow.

Waiting.

For the swell to come. The waves to get good. The SoCal road trip to happen (next week!). The trip back to this beach one day. Us to get along again. The next big job. The financial stress to go away.

I guess I could go on. I'm not really waiting, cause I'm still going, going, going. Surfed yesterday in crappy waves with K, Krys, B and Jr. It was sunny and gorgeous. The water was warm(er) and despite the crap we were surfing in, it was a lot of fun. Sometimes the sun just brings it all together. I needed it. My life has had some bumps lately, and there is nothing like a good session to clear the mind.

Can't wait for our trip next week. If anyone has any suggestions on places to check out between San Francisco and San Diego, send them along.
