It's winter here in San Francisco, although you probably can't tell from this shot (this is actually Santa Cruz). Since this is only my second summer here in the city, vs my ten years spent in Oakland, I have to say, it's pretty harsh. I have fond memories of warm sunny weather in California, but there's been little of that here for months. The surf has also been marginal, lacking in any gusto of fun summer swells or playful conditions. But this isn't a blog meant to be a place to complain about the weather and surf.
The photography swell is up though. At present I'm working on putting together a small showing of large format surf images in pairing with textile work by Nicole Markoff, at Secession art and design: 3361 Mission St SF 94110 entitled the Devotion show. Work will be on display August-September (more info to follow).
In addition, a massive amount of preparation for a new website launch in mid September is also underway. Stay tuned my friends...I guess the advantage of the foggy weather is it's effect on keeping me inside to work.

June bloom is over already! The summer is flying by. I'm teaching surf classes every weekend, but just returned from a Mexico workation. A great way to be working but still not a real vacation, more like a vacation teaser. Nonetheless, the scenery was beautiful, the food was excellent and the work was mellow. In general I'm feeling pretty blessed these days. I taught a teen surf camp this week and met a couple of awesome little chicas from Nebraska. They definitely have the surf bug now and it always feels really great to watch that unfold for the people willing to put the juice into it to earn it. It's great to see how young folks who are usually landlocked get excited about the ocean.
I'm happy to report work is consistent and I finished my 10 month intensive yoga teacher training at Piedmont yoga studio.
Now it's weekend vacation time again: I'm headed up to Sea Ranch with a group of my besties for beautiful landscape, surf, beach-time, delicious food, and a chance to get out of the city and be a little slower. Can't wait for the drive, the picture taking opportunities and the recharge I really need right now.
